"Feed labelling – Transition period on compliance "

The labelling requirements set out in the 2024 Feeds Regulations have been updated and came into force immediately.

However, a 12-month transition period was provided. During this time, feed labels must comply with the requirements set out in the 2024 Feeds Regulations (Sections 44 to 54) or with the requirements of the 1983 Feeds Regulations (Sections 24 and 26 to 33). This allows feed companies to continue using existing labels already on the market and to transition from the 1983 Feeds Regulations to the 2024 Feeds Regulations.
After June 17, 2025 (end of the 12-month transition period), only the labelling requirements set out in the 2024 Feeds Regulations will need to be followed.

Labels play an important role in the safe and proper use of livestock feed.
Proper labelling helps buyers distinguish one livestock feed from another, make informed decisions, and provide information about the nature of the livestock feed and how it should be used.
